A: It’s crafted from hardened 4140 steel for durability and features a nitrocarburizing finish.
Q: What is nitrocarburized finish ?
A: The process we use is called Quench polish quench (QPQ), is a specialized type of nitrocarburizing case hardening that increases corrosion resistance. It is sometimes known by the brand name of Tufftride, Tenifer or Melonite. Three steps are involved: nitrocarburize ("quench"), polish, and post-oxidize ("quench").

We Choose this surface treatment to minimise the risk of flaking coatings entering the engine. While this surface treatment provides some corrosion protection, this tool should be oiled lightly when not in use.
